ABOUT US

IMG_4793.jpg

Colorado West Pride has been part of the Grand Valley long enough to become a fixture of it. We put on Pride on the Western Slope, the regional weekend the community organizes around, and we've kept doing it through real hostility.

We're rooted where you actually live: Mesa County, the rivers, the parks, the high desert light. In a place where a lot of queer life has had to happen quietly or somewhere else, we claim this ground openly. The welcome is for anyone who got here, however they got here.

We're not going anywhere.

PRIDE HISTORY

Pride started as a protest, and it's still that in a lot of places. Out here it's also a picnic, a float down the Colorado, and a parade past storefronts owned by people who know your name.

Both things are true at once, and this page is where we hold the local version of that story: [the first march, the years it nearly didn't happen, the city proclamation, the people who made it].

AFFILIATES

We don't do this alone, and we don't pretend to. When somebody needs more than a party, these are the folks we point them to.
