MAX VALENTINE (THEY/THEM)
MEMBER AT LARGE
Max wants to help build a vibrant, visible, and connected queer community on the Western Slope - one where LGBTQ+ people of all ages can find belonging, celebrate who they are, and see themselves reflected in their community. A big part of what drives Max is the idea of being the person, and helping create the community, that they needed when they were younger.
They love the way queer community brings people together across generations, backgrounds, and experiences. They are especially passionate about queer history, education, and creating opportunities for people to connect with one another beyond Pride itself.
They've called Grand Junction home for three years. They are originally from Oklahoma, but Western Colorado has very much become home, too.
They are an elementary school teacher! Max teaches in a Waldorf-inspired setting, so their days involve everything from reading and math to storytelling, gardening, painting, music, and practical arts like baking and weaving.
Fun Facts:
They have a dog named Ruthie who is basically their adventure buddy. They love hiking, camping, making things, live music, and collecting hobbies faster than they can reasonably keep up with them.
